<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">For the past couple of weeks, I have made cards for the <a href="http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca/2015/07/sketch-117.html">Atlantic Hearts challenges</a>. But I just never managed to post them so I could enter them. I know this is last minute but I want to get this done.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;">I have a lot of summer birthdays in my family. I made this card for my sister. I used this week's <a href="http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca/2015/07/sketch-117.html">Atlantic Hearts sketch #117</a> for inspiration and will be entering it for the challenge.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BlznkTWd8E/VYogN0-f7RI/AAAAAAAABPc/s92Fv0lmVGk/s1600/11329792_591481034326075_34985460912454915_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BlznkTWd8E/VYogN0-f7RI/AAAAAAAABPc/s92Fv0lmVGk/s200/11329792_591481034326075_34985460912454915_n.jpg" width="138" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;">Here is my version:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s6hL6Uo7w6M/VbOjxADPpKI/AAAAAAAAANI/3KqkwKYH1qQ/s1600/amy%2527s%2Bcard%2B2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s6hL6Uo7w6M/VbOjxADPpKI/AAAAAAAAANI/3KqkwKYH1qQ/s320/amy%2527s%2Bcard%2B2.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I used plain white cardstock as the card base. Then I used sponges to dab all different colors all over. There is probably a name for this technique out there somewhere, but I was just playing around trying to get a tie-dye look and this is how it turned out. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: large;">The hexagon overlay is from the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge. All of the inks are also CTMH. Cardstock is Recollections from Michaels. And finally the sentiment is an old woodblock stamp from my <strike>hoard</strike> collection.</span></div>
<br />

</div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It's hard to believe that my oldest has graduated. I know every mother says this but it really seems like it was just last year that I was taping foam to the coffee table so she wouldn't bump her head again. Last month when she broke her arm when she crashed her bike. And last week when I was so worried about her entering High School for the first time. Looking back, time goes by so very fast and I wish that I had started scrapbooks way back then.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Last week, I went through pictures and ordered a bunch of prints from Shutterfly. Today I spent a few hours finally adding pictures to finish some of my old layouts. I also did a new one to go opposite the <a href="http://scrappinmoremom.blogspot.com/2014/09/everything-abc-blog-hop-letter-s.html">"then and now" layout</a>. I used this week's Sketch #110 from the <a href="http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.com/">Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge</a> as my inspiration.</span><br />
<br />
<img height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lmqusyK27E0/VUpS_JB_V6I/AAAAAAAABD0/Ggu1zHB1v4o/s200/11140382_576861042454741_8935011572172195102_n.jpg" width="159" /><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">My layout:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W9vH1jc9OEU/VW4Q8x7ih3I/AAAAAAAAAMo/DoG_EGZLYNY/s1600/allgrownup2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W9vH1jc9OEU/VW4Q8x7ih3I/AAAAAAAAAMo/DoG_EGZLYNY/s320/allgrownup2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This layout not only uses the same paper pack as the "Then and Now" layout, but it also has both one of her senior pictures and a series of growing up pics (9mo, 4yr, and 8yr). There is a tiny bling in the corner of the little pictures, but really the pictures are meant to replace the embellishments on the sketch. After all, my girl always has shined brighter than any bling.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10017282743427387016noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9191634000935780592.post-73930206964265060752015-04-29T00:36:00.000-04:002015-04-29T00:36:50.931-04:00It's been a while<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Hi Y'all!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It has been way too long since I've posted on here. Sometimes life happens and your plans get turned upside down....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Life sometimes gets in the way of crafting time too. My poor crafting supplies have been sitting there collecting dust for the past few months while I have been doing a million other things. But today I had time for me. Really it was one of those days where I wasn't sure I actually had nothing to do or if I had forgotten everything- either way, I decided it was time to get down to business of making some Mother's Day cards before I run out of time again. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">While I was cutting and gluing and deciding where to put more sparkle, I realized that I definitely needed this craft time. I could feel the stress that has been constant for a while just melt away. So I decided then and there that I need to make this blog active again so that I can be accountable to myself to make some "me" time each week. I really liked the blog hop that I used to do, but unfortunately I no longer sell Close To My Heart and that was mainly for Closed To My Heart consultants. So I decided to look online for some other craft challenges that I can try. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This week, I am doing the <a href="http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca/2015/04/sketch-105.html">Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge - sketch 105</a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This is the inspiration sketch:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><img height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z7iNqJ9uLfM/VQh78Z23R5I/AAAAAAAAA2M/5ZPXB3ukD4Q/s200/11042672_549602425180603_8960237762700608259_n.jpg" width="150" /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here is my interpretation used for a Mother's Day card. (I guess it's a good that that even my own mother doesn't actually follow my blog- it can still be a surprise!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jPRY52aPRSg/VUBXegfDoOI/AAAAAAAAAL0/YON94KOmazM/s1600/photo%2B(13).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jPRY52aPRSg/VUBXegfDoOI/AAAAAAAAAL0/YON94KOmazM/s1600/photo%2B(13).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">In my version, I flipped the card on its side. I cut the focal "inspire" from the Cricut Craft Room. It is one of the free cuts this week from the Wall Decor and More cartridge. It's fitting for a Mother's Day card, because who should inspire you more than your mother? My mother is amazing and I am very proud when people tell me I am just like her. In addition to my Mom, I have quite a few "honorary moms" that also inspire me to be more creative, to be a better organizer, to be more down to earth, etc.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The picture is not the best, but I really love how this card turned out. The polka dot paper is one of my favorites right now. The lagoon/ teal is one of my favorite colors and I think the dots are really cute. It is one of those papers that I am torn between using in a bunch of projects because I love it so much, and not using it at all so I can hoard it and never run out! Come on, fellow paper crafters- admit it, you know you have a few of these papers too!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Next week, I'll have a new project- I promise it won't be 6 months this time!</span></div>
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10017282743427387016noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9191634000935780592.post-61425698933597156702014-10-31T22:13:00.000-04:002014-10-31T22:13:39.487-04:00Happy Halloween!<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! My husband and I took our 2 younger daughters out Trick or Treating. I think we were one of the few groups that did NOT have a Frozen character with us. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Today I am sharing the 3 different projects that I made for Halloween. I made them all using the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q9Ft-rm_5Rg/VFIfqWhTB8I/AAAAAAAAAKc/CG0Elmxk0Es/s1600/photo_1%2B(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q9Ft-rm_5Rg/VFIfqWhTB8I/AAAAAAAAAKc/CG0Elmxk0Es/s1600/photo_1%2B(1).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This 2 page layout is made using all cuts from pages 70 and 71 in the booklet. It was so easy, I just set the dial to the suggested size and picked the cuts I wanted. With the cartridge, everything is set to where the default is sized to go perfectly with your project. The hardest part was picking the colors I wanted to use! I am planning on making tombstone journal spots to add once I get the pictures printed.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I80eOXv4Yak/VFIgT7kYuhI/AAAAAAAAAKs/xZpekD3tUqc/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I80eOXv4Yak/VFIgT7kYuhI/AAAAAAAAAKs/xZpekD3tUqc/s1600/photo.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">This next project is a Halloween mini-album cut from pages 54-55. The picture doesn't do it justice... it is super cute but that would have been a lot of pics to show the front and back of each page. Maybe I might learn how to put a video on here- that would make showing the minis so much easier. Hmmm... will have to do that when I finish the envelope mini I am working on.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mrs1ZJvDews/VFIgiW2X3fI/AAAAAAAAAK0/zrGSpHdkhu4/s1600/photo%2B(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mrs1ZJvDews/VFIgiW2X3fI/AAAAAAAAAK0/zrGSpHdkhu4/s1600/photo%2B(1).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Finally, I also made this really cute card. I don't usually make Halloween cards, but I was playing around in the Cricut Craft Room and this is what happened! All the cuts for this card are on page 71. I used the photo mat 1, flipped it on it's side then scaled it down to fit on the front of a 5x7 card. Then scaled down the house image and played with it until I got the size and placement that I liked. I welded the house image to the frame so it would all cut out at once. Then again played with the sizing and placement until I was happy with the "Boo". For the background, I used a Halloween paper that I had in my stash. And the yellow for the windows and door is just a little scrap of cardstock cut to fit behind the house.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Ok, that's all for tonight. I'll be back with a new post soon.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">My "u" project is for Unicorn. When I first joined as a Close To My Heart consultant, the very first stamp set that I HAD to have was Unicorn Dreams. This stamp set totally reminds me of my oldest daughter who loves unicorns. It was a Hostess Exclusive, so I was so happy that I was able to have a qualifying order that first month so that I could get it. This beautiful stamp set is no longer available, but there are lots of new Hostess Exclusive stamp sets that are pretty great too! And if you aren't into stamps, you can use hostess rewards to get other goodies, like papers or inks.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">For the card, unicorns need to have pretty colors and sparkle! On the base, I used my sponge to apply ink around the edges. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Finished the card with just a little bit of glitter glue on the horn for sparkle- because you just can't have a unicorn without the sparkle! Actually, it was killing me to JUST glitterfy (that's a word, right?) the horn. I wanted to go overboard like usual and add sparkle to a bunch of the stars. Once the glue dried and I saw the finished card, I am really glad I stopped when I did. The picture does not do this card justice- it is sooo pretty, I just love how it turned out!</span><br />

<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I've been having a pretty stressful couple of weeks between work and other personal obligations. It finally dragged me down enough this week for me to say "The heck with this! I need some me time." So on Tuesday (my day off), instead of laundry, or errands, or a million other things that needed my attention... I went to my crafting beginnings and just sat down and made cards... lots and lots of cards.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I decided that with all the new paper lines in the new CTMH book, there is no reason to hold on to my retired B&T sample swatches. Of course, no way am I just going to toss those 6x6 in. beautiful patterned papers! I did what every other scrapper would do- use them to make cards.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mD0l9kmn8Qo/VDIQwaeZRlI/AAAAAAAAAIo/F2kxYyWLFMs/s1600/photo%2B(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mD0l9kmn8Qo/VDIQwaeZRlI/AAAAAAAAAIo/F2kxYyWLFMs/s1600/photo%2B(12).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I did all the cutting and made the bases of the cards on Tuesday while the girls were at school. That helped with enough stress to get me through the rest of the week. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Watching my girls at their respective games on Thursday and Friday, set up a perfect relaxing weekend. On Saturday, I helped my oldest prepare for her final Homecoming dance. Both her and her date were stunning and it made this Mom's day to see my girl so happy.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">After they went off to dinner and the dance, I sat down to finish those cards. After what seemed like stamping a million sentiments, they were finally done! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">And the crafting didn't stop there- I also did my project for the upcoming Blog Hop (early for a change) and today I made a cute little mini album that I will post about hopefully next week. I have plans for coordinating layout pages and want to share them all at the same time. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Hopefully after all the crafting this week, I have recharged enough to face reality and obligations again. I think I really needed that break from everyday stresses. And Hey, guess what? The kids survived, work is still there, and the laundry didn't completely take over the house! I think life is still good....</span></div>

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I did another double layout for my Letter T post. This one focuses on my two younger girls. Both girls are on teams for the county rec department. My 13 year old has been playing soccer since she was 8. She lives, breathes, dreams soccer. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">This past spring, my youngest finished her last year playing baseball in the Mighty Mites division (pitching machine). After 6 seasons of baseball, she switched to soccer this year, which she LOVES. Sadly, I think my hopes of having any of my daughters becoming the first professional female baseball player has gone out the window. Guess it's a good thing I have learned to actually like soccer!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Anyway, my letter T layouts focus on their spring teams. So T is for team, Flying Turtles, and the Artbooking cartridge Teamwork and Teen layouts.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">The pattern paper that I used for the back ground is from my stash. I've actually had it for at least 3 years (that's how long I've been <strike>procrastinating</strike> planning to do a sports page for the girls). </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">All of the cuts for the pages came from the Artbooking cartridge. Seriously, I love this cartridge! It just about lives in my Cricut machine. The word "Girl" is from the "Teen" layout and all the rest are from the "Teamwork" page. <span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">For my S project, I am finally doing a scrapbook layout! WooHoo! As much as I hate to admit that my oldest is growing up, reality has set in that she really is a Senior in High School. This time next year, she will have flow the nest and start making her next chapter in life. So my letter S stands for school, senior, scrapbook layout, and shimmer tape.</span></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Please forgive the quality of the pictures. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get the sparkle from the shimmer tape and clear sparkles to show well. Eventually I will actually get a place set up with decent lighting for my photos.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">The font for the word "Senior" is from the Cricut Craft Room Basics, cut at 2.5 inches. The "then and now", as well as "class of 2015" are all stamped using the Circus Alphabet stamps that were the stamp of the month in July.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I used the Reflections layout book for ideas for the layout. Specifically pages 68 and 74. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
OK--- I know you are all wondering how to get the free product I mentioned at the beginning, right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here is how- by hosting a party! I know, I know- that's not what you were expecting. But stick with me for a minute.... A qualifying party is any order or group of orders that totals $150 or more. If you take advantage of all the great things going on this month, you only need $16 additional product to qualify for $25 in FREE products (including the exclusive Hostess Rewards Stamp Sets). So even if you don't want to include your friends, there is nothing that says you can't have a party of 1 !</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the math:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Artfully Sent bundle $99 + Retail-priced stamps $30 (which gets you the additional free stamp set) + Sept. Stamp of Month $5 + additional products $16 = party minimum of $150. Ta Da! $25 in free product!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you want to place an order of $150 or more to qualify for party status, don't order through the links above. Instead email me at melissahegwood3@gmail.com and I will contact you about setting up your party online.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Ok, so here is the deal with this mini album. It just so happens that I live very close to a college town. A big college town. With a BIG football team (and lots of crazy football fans). And it is beginning of football season. So there is red and black and bulldogs everywhere! And risking the possible backlash for admitting this- I am just not a big football fan. So I will never use this mini, but at least I know of dozens of friends and family that will have plenty of pics to fill this up. I just have to figure out who to give it to.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To the nitty- gritty of the album.... since long before becoming a Close to My Heart consultant, I have been a paper hoarder. Tryng to use up some of my stash to make room for new CTMH papers, I decided to use the red and black Recollections (look- another R!) cardstock from Michael's. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I pulled out my new "go to" Cricut cartridge, CTMH's Artbooking, and set to work cutting out the mini album on the R key. This is actually shown as a baby book mini in the booklet that comes with the cartridge. Just by using different colors and changing the titles, this looks nothing like a baby book. I love the versatility of this cartridge! I added pockets and tabs all over this mini too- so there is a ton of space for pics and journaling. I used Plantin Schoolbook font for the "Go Dawgs" and the Artbooking font for the "Sic 'em". I used the Cricut Craft Room to weld the letters for easier placement.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I don't know how well you can see from these photos, but I do need to do some touch ups on some of the pages. When I started embellishing, I felt like it needed some sparkle or bling. Not wanting to go overboard on the girly (it is football after all!), I decided to add some touches of red glitter glue. I left it out on the table to dry overnight. While I was sleeping, someone decided he needed to supervise my work...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2oTQPee7FsY/VAqNnPLLKcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/9iRnf6cIaXY/s1600/photo_1%2B(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2oTQPee7FsY/VAqNnPLLKcI/AAAAAAAAAFw/9iRnf6cIaXY/s1600/photo_1%2B(3).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8c0o38NaEKM/VAqNt6m4VhI/AAAAAAAAAF4/iRjjfLcTnJ8/s1600/photo_2%2B(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8c0o38NaEKM/VAqNt6m4VhI/AAAAAAAAAF4/iRjjfLcTnJ8/s1600/photo_2%2B(3).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R60zEuQpju8/VAqNyaCnYwI/AAAAAAAAAGA/zfB6W-KFv-M/s1600/photo_3%2B(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R60zEuQpju8/VAqNyaCnYwI/AAAAAAAAAGA/zfB6W-KFv-M/s1600/photo_3%2B(2).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Obviously, Stormageddon is not a "Dawg" fan. During the night, he not only smudged some of the glue before it was dry, but also stole 2 of my binder rings that will hold the mini together. Maybe if the mascot was a panther, he would have left it alone! Anyway, I am just thankful that I haven't added the ribbon to the tags yet- he really likes to play with ribbon!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">If you came from <a href="http://www.myscrapbookingblog.com/2014/08/23/everything-abcs-blog-hop-q">Wendy Kessler- My Scrapbooking Blog</a> then you're on the right track!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This project has 2 q's in it- Quilted and Quick! The quilted is obvious- this is a quilt inspired design for an A2 card. And quick is for the fact that this card literally took me minutes to complete. I knew the deadline was coming up and I needed to do my Q hop before midnight. Of course, the crazy long errands I had to do after work today all took longer than expected. When I finally got to sit down at 11pm, I remembered my deadline! Oops! Good thing I work well under pressure!</span><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This card was all done using the Chalk It Up paper pack. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the "quilt blocks". After attaching the blocks, I ran it quickly through my Sizzix Texture Boutique. I have a Big Kick, but for most little card things, I find the little TB is much more convenient. The sentiment is from the Artbooking Cricut bundle stamped in Lagoon ink. Add a few clear sparkles, and Voila! A quick, quilted look card from start to finish in 10 minutes!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">It has been a hectic and transitional week. Pretty much just trying to get back into our normal not summer routines. School, band, soccer, and Girl Scouts are all starting back up again. All 3 of my girls are in Girl Scouts- all different levels and different troops that meet at different times. And I am the leader for my 8th grader's troop. Sometimes I still wonder how I got suckered into leadership, but after going on 8 years, I wouldn't give it up for the world. Some of these girls have been with this troop since the beginning. It has been wonderful</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"> to watch these girls grow from little 1st graders to the beautiful, amazing young ladies that are ready to take on any challenge that 8th grade can dish out!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Anyway, one of my biggest challenges for my troop meetings as they have gotten older is finding activities that 1) takes more than 5 minutes but less than 1.5 hours to complete;</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">2) relates to what is going on in their lives or troop plans; and 3) something that will not just be taken home and thrown on the floor or in a drawer and forgotten.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">So this week, my project doesn't actually involve paper. Our "Welcome Back" project for my troop will be to make Ribbon Boards to hang in their lockers. I thought about traditional cork boards at first, but I don't want the teachers and custodians mad at me when push pins and thumbtacks keep falling on the floor in the hall. And magnet boards seems redundant considering the whole locker is metal! So came the ribbon board project- no pins to fall out and still plenty of places to put pics or notes or whatever they want!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Here is what I used for my ribbon board:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bb6D3zZKsgk/U_OI1Z7FcAI/AAAAAAAAADQ/aPKYCX5S1og/s1600/photo%2B(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Bb6D3zZKsgk/U_OI1Z7FcAI/AAAAAAAAADQ/aPKYCX5S1og/s1600/photo%2B(11).JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I used an 8x10 canvas (value pack is on sale at Michael's this week), quilt batting, fabric left over from other projects that I never started, staple gun, ribbon, and thumbtacks (but I will be switching this out for brads).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">There are lots of tutorials online about using foam board or cork board, and I thought about those. But since I got the canvases on sale, that is what I went with. The boards are actually very easy. The hardest part was deciding which fabric and ribbons to use.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">First, cut the batting and fabric large enough to have about 3 inches extra on every side. Lay the batting down, then place the canvas (face down) on top of the batting. Pull the batting around the edges and staple to the frame of the canvas. It can help to cut the extra fabric away from the corners to keep the bulk down. Next, place your fabric good side down on your table. Place your batting covered canvas on top of the fabric and repeat stapling like with the batting. (Tip: pull fabric as tight as you can to get out any wrinkles, working with opposite sides) I didn't take a pic of this part.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Now that you have the canvas covered, play with the ribbon placement until you are happy with it. Place pins at the ribbon intersections to hold them in place. Flip canvas over and attach the ends of the ribbon to keep them in place. I went a little overboard with my staple gun trying to aim with my smaller ribbon, my troop will be using hot glue for this part. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zS2xrfB6bu4/U_OQmka2_cI/AAAAAAAAADw/kn8HQGSwRB8/s1600/photo_3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zS2xrfB6bu4/U_OQmka2_cI/AAAAAAAAADw/kn8HQGSwRB8/s1600/photo_3.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">All that is left is to replace the pins at the ribbon intersections with something more permanent. I used white thumbtacks (would have worked if I used the cork or foam boards). The canvas was pretty tough to poke through so I had to use one of my piercing tools. Then the tacks wouldn't stay by themselves. Again, improvising with extra school supplies, I cut up one of the extra big pink erasers and stuck them on the back of the tacks to keep them in place. I like how it looked from the front, but I will be replacing them with brads for a more permanent solution. Attach a ribbon on the top and it's ready to hang!</span></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
For my "P" project, I went way back to my pre- Cricut days. This card is old school and all about <i><u>punches and polka dots</u></i>. I started with a White card base, then layers of lagoon and daisy white, with a final layer of honey embellishments with canary inked polka dots.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
<b><u>Punches:</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
For the lagoon and white layers, I used an old Fiskars scallop edge punch on both sides (sorry I can't remember the name- I've had it for years). CTMH also has a Scallop Border Punch (item z1851) that would work well for this card too. The honey ribbon was cut using the Martha Stewart punch called Infinite Loop Trim. Finally, the circles were done with 2 1/4 inch and a 2 1/2 inch punches and attached with Pop Dots for dimension. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
<u><b>Stamping:</b></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; text-align: left;">
The sentiment is stamped in Archival Black. The stamp is from the You Mean the World to Me set that coordinates with the Cut Above kits. Finally, I couldn't find any circle stamps as small as I needed. Thankfully it is back to school season and the perfect solution was literally right in front of me. I used a pencil eraser with Canary ink to stamp the little dots that finished up the edges on the white layer. </div>
<div style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I was so excited to get my package from Close To My Heart today! Couldn't wait to open it and make something. The item I was most looking forward to playing with was the new <b>Base & Bling Oval Cuff</b>. Base & Bling is CTMH's jewelry line. There are also pendants and chains and charms in both antiqued silver or gold. You can use your own images or CTMH even has some great sticker image collections to choose from. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VmThuAGM1Yk/U-F_K9mklDI/AAAAAAAAACA/fXkjXoXt2CI/s1600/oval+cuff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VmThuAGM1Yk/U-F_K9mklDI/AAAAAAAAACA/fXkjXoXt2CI/s1600/oval+cuff.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I chose the Journey image sticker sheet for my cuff. There are quite a few sayings and images that I really liked on this sheet. I finally picked "Just Keep Swimming". It is a saying that we use in my house a lot. It helps remind me that when things get rough and a bit overwhelming, if I "just keep swimming", eventually I can make it through anything. It took me longer to actually pick the image than it took me to put the whole thing together! There were just a few simple steps:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">1. Use the Glass Oval Cover to trace oval over selected image.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">2. Cut out sticker and adhere to Oval Cuff.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">3. Cover image with Liquid Glass adhesive (it dries clear, don't be stingy with it)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">4. Place Glass cover over image and use a damp paper towel to wipe off the excess adhesive that seeps out the sides.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Here is a list of products and links to my online store if you are interested in purchasing these for yourself.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I am excited to share that the new Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations catalog is now live! There are so many new products that I can't wait to use in different projects. The good news is that the new book lasts for a full year! The bad news is that means I have to make the tough decisions on how to spread everything out! I have so many projects running through my head, but I thought I would let you all know about the paper line I am most excited to start with...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Since my girls will be starting school soon (Friday, actually! Way too early in my opinion, but that is a completely different soapbox I don't want to climb on right now), I am starting off with the <b>Chalk It Up</b> paper line. While this paper obviously works for school related projects, the patterns and colors work well for lots of other things too. I can't wait to try it out. Click this link to check out this paper and all of the complements in my online store: <a href="http://melissahegwood.ctmh.com/Retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=84">Chalk It Up </a></span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This awesome line also has a <b>Scrapbook Workshop On The Go</b>, which includes the paper pack, additional cardstock, accessories, a D-sized exclusive stamp set, and instructions on on how to create some fantastic layouts. Check it out here: <a href="http://melissahegwood.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8120&ci=1338">WOTG Chalk It Up Scrapbook Kit</a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">And finally, there is also a <b>Picture My Life</b> Program kit in the Chalk It Up line! See it here: <a href="http://melissahegwood.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=8009&ci=1485">PML Chalk It Up</a>. This is especially exciting because for the month of August, if you buy any of the 13 available <b>Picture My Life</b> scrapbooking programs, you can get one of 8 qualifying 10-pack of Memory Protectors for just $3! Check out all the different Picture My Life here: <a href="http://melissahegwood.ctmh.com/Retail/Products.aspx?CatalogID=19">Picture My Life</a>.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">And this month's Stamp Of the Month (only $5 with a $50 order) is this really cute Owl themed set:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Ok, that's it for now... I'll be back Tuesday with a new project to share with you!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Today I made a cute little birthday card for a very special 10 year old girl. Yes, as much as I would like to keep her tiny forever, my youngest turned 10 today. Double didgets. The big one- oh. A whole decade. Okay, maybe I am going a bit overboard here. Let me just get on with the card....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iVNDxyYoDac/U9hQhIALKcI/AAAAAAAAABw/ghCzf-PZ8jk/s1600/turtle+card+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iVNDxyYoDac/U9hQhIALKcI/AAAAAAAAABw/ghCzf-PZ8jk/s1600/turtle+card+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">This is just a simple little card that combines just about all of her favorite things... Turtles, teal, and the Texture boutique. Starting with the cute little turtle, which is her current favorite animal. She was cut at 2.5 inches from the Create A Critter Cricut cartridge. I used greens and teal paper from my ever growing scrap paper collection. Now, my girl is not a super girly-girl, but she does appreciate a bit of bling here and there. To make the turtle a little more girly and still manage to stay out of "the pink zone", I hand cut a tiny bow and added a teeny weeny teal bling to it. Please don't ask where it came from because I have no idea. She actually found it somewhere and brought it to me to use in my crafts</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">The sentiment is stamped in CTMH Lagoon Ink and backed with more of the teal paper that I used for the shell.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Finally, the white background is run through the Sissix Texture Boutique with the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots folder. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I know it's a pretty simple card- but it is all about her and she absolutely loved it! And isn't that really what birthdays are all about? Celebrating the simple things that make us unique. </span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10017282743427387016noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9191634000935780592.post-14982415737350980712014-07-22T00:16:00.000-04:002014-07-27T21:28:39.882-04:00Welcome<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><i>Welcome to my blog! This is the beginning of sharing my love of paper crafts with others. I have been mainly a card maker with an occasional home decor item thrown in for fun. But recently, with the realization that my babies are all growing up so fast, I have decided that I want to spend more time scrap booking and recording as many of the little moments that I can.</i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><i>I joined as a Close To My Heart Consultant in April, so many of the projects that I will be posting will have our CTMH products. If you like what you see, you can click on the link to go to my site to order any of the supplies you might need.</i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><i>I plan on joining some blog hops, so new projects will be posted regularly. Hope you will visit often!</i></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10017282743427387016noreply@blogger.com2
